Supporting Families offers free mental health and addiction support to family / whānau supporting a loved one. Our service provides education, information, advocacy, workshops, support groups, face to face / telephone support, a website, as well as supporting workforce development.

Dunedin Support Group

Children Understanding Mental Illness (CUMI)

CUMI is a five week course focusing on information about mental illness and “life enhancement skills” to assist children in dealing with the impact of mental illness in their family environment. This programme is intended for primary school aged children aged 6 – 12 years.

When:
Tuesday (6 – 9 yrs) & Thursday (10 – 12 yrs) | 3.30pm – 5pm
Term 3:
Tuesday, 08 August 2017 – Tuesday, 05 September (6 – 9 yrs)
Thursday, 10 August 2017 – Thursday, 07 September (10 – 12 yrs)
Term 4:
Tuesday, 24 October 2017 – Tuesday, 21 November (6 – 9 yrs)
Thursday, 26 October 2017 – Thursday, 23 November (10 – 12 yrs)

Eating Disorders – Family Support Group

Is focused on providing support and information to people with a loved one suffering from an eating disorder.

Coming together to discuss experiences, share ideas and develop strategies for coping, the Eating Disorder Group offers a way to connect with those dealing with similar issues.

5.30pm – 7.00pm third Wednesday of the month.

Education & Support Meetings

able regularly organises speakers and discussion events on a range of mental health topics and issues for people who have a family member with mental illness. These meetings also offer people a chance to share experiences and build support networks.
